Labels help in separating permissions on resources for your employees

What are labels? Labels are essentially ‘tags’ that you can customize as needed and use to manage permissions for your employees. Only the owner and admin of organizations can create and edit labels. To create a label, click on ‘Organization settings’ in the left corner.

A new tab will open; click on the ‘Label’ button.

On the Label tab, you'll find the ‘Add new label’ button and a list of existing labels.

Click the ‘Add new label’ button, and a ‘New custom label’ pop-up will appear.

You can enter a name with up to 40 characters or leave the field empty. Input a name for the label and click the ‘Add label’ button.

The new label will appear in the list:

You can also edit the name and delete the label as needed by pressing the appropriate buttons.

Click on a label to open it.

A new page will open. On this tab, you can add or edit values.

To add a new value, click on the corresponding button.

A pop-up window will appear; enter a name and description. You can enter up to 20 characters in the name field and up to 256 characters in the description. You can also choose a color for the label by clicking on the desired color.

Click the ‘Create’ button, and the pop-up will close, with the new value appearing on the list.

When you have several labels, you can use the search and sort by name for greater convenience. To sort resources, simply click on the name.

You can edit any value by clicking on the corresponding button.

After making your changes, click the ‘Confirm’ button, and the changes will be displayed in the value list.

If you want to delete a value, click on the three dots and choose the ‘Remove’ option.

Now you have the ability to assign labels to your resources. Wondering how it works? Owners and admins of organizations can assign labels to resources within the Cloudview page. Just select the desired region in the top left corner. Labels can be assigned either as a mass action or individually. Let's explore both options.

For the first option, which is the mass action, it makes it easy to assign labels to many resources with just a few clicks. Begin by selecting the checkbox that selects all resources, and you can also select or deselect individual checkboxes.

A button for actions will appear below; click on it. After clicking, a dropdown with two options will appear: 'Edit Labels' or 'Edit Tags.'

Now, we'll focus on the 'Edit Labels' option. Click on it, and a new dropdown will appear, listing your existing labels at that moment.

Upon clicking, you'll see the label values and can choose one. For example, let's select 'manager.'

To confirm whether the value has been applied, open the details of any resource.

Keep in mind that you can't assign more than one value to a single label.

Now, let's explore the second option, which is assigning labels individually to resources. Choose any region and resource, then open the details window.

Select the label and click on it; a list of values will appear.

After clicking on a value, it will be displayed in the details.

You can now proceed to set permissions based on labels. Go to the 'Teams' tab, choose a user you want to grant permissions to, and click the 'Edit' button next to the name.

Please note that you cannot grant someone more permissions than you currently have.

On the edit page, click on the label opposite 'Access.'

Then, click on the first field that appears and choose the label name.

You have the option to select values using 'is' or 'is not.'

For our example, let's choose 'manager.' Don't forget to save your settings!

Also, you can add multiple labels and their values by clicking on the 'Add Labels' button.

If a user with access to a particular value changes it in Cloudview, the user won't be able to see resources with the new label.

Now, let's delve into more details about what we've accomplished and the results. Users to whom you've granted permissions based on labels can only see resources with those specific labels. This means you can manage access like another form of permissions. Keep in mind that access can always be changed.

Please be aware that after making certain changes, you may need to wait up to 24 hours. This includes changing a user to an admin and vice versa, modifying labels, and updating costs on the Dashboard.

Now, let's explore how to use labels more efficiently and conveniently. In the Dashboard, you can find a diagram displaying 'Costs by Label.' This diagram provides a quick overview of costs associated with specific labels. For example, you can categorize your departments and assign them their own labels to track expenses. The diagram includes data for a specific period and provides a forecast. A legend explains the colors representing various values. These charts are updated every 24 hours.

Next, navigate to Cloudview, where you can use filters on the Cloudlist, Cloudnet, and Cloudmap pages.

Go to the 'Billing' tab, where you can group data by labels (both in the 'Summary' and 'Detailed' tabs) and view information on a chart.

You can also select which label is displayed on the x-axis in the 'Summary' tab. Filters by label are available, and you can view a Sankey diagram with label data.

Keep in mind that labels are removed from resources when an account is moved or disconnected.
