How to switch AWS account role to Read/write with Cloudfomation stack

Learn how to switch AWS account role to Read/write mode

Step 1

Go to the “Account manager” tab.

Step 2

Select the desired AWS account with Read-only access by clicking on the DETAILS button

Step 3

Click on the Switch to Read/write button in the settings of the selected account

Step 4

Click on the Switch to read/write button in the window that appears

You will see a new window of switch to Read/write like this

Note: When some information is missed, please check our user-friendly manual inside the application

The first field is the Account name, you can see the account name you entered when adding the account, if the name was not entered by default it will be "AWS"

Next, select Access type (Selected type will have white point on blue background):

Read/write - that means you can use all the offered functions such as : convert to spot, schedule resource, remove unused resource and rightsizing your resource.

Read-only - means that you can only see all your resources and possible actions, but you cannot use the main functionality.

Then select Connection (Selected connection will have a white point on a blue background):

Description:

CloudFormation stack — ARN-role will be automatically created by CloudFormation stack and all that you need is to paste the created role to the appropriate field.

Manual — You will manually create a role using the External ID and Account ID below. You will get full control of creating policy and ARN-role.

Note: At this point, we use Cloudformation stack connection type with read/write permissions

NOTE: DO NOT REFRESH THE PAGE DURING ROLE CREATION

Click on the Select region field.

Select the region where you want to place the S3 bucket with CUR. If you already have an S3 bucket with CUR in some regions, we will not create a new one, we will use your S3 bucket.

Click the “Launch now” button.

If you return to Uniskai while adding an account, you will see a pop-up window

Sign in to the AWS console when you are not signed in. Otherwise, you will be redirected to the Create Stack page

You will see the Quick Create stack page.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the checkboxes

Navigate to the next page:

Wait until the stack's status becomes "CREATE_COMPLETE" and return to Uniskai, the account will be added automatically. You can view the connected account on the Account Manager page.

The account was successfully switched to the Read/write role. You can see the updated account on the Account manager page.
